General Scope

ROS-RM is a full day workshop on "ROS and its applications for Robotic Manipulation", which will be held on July 23, 2014 at the Polytechnic College of the University of Alicante, in Alicante, SPAIN. This Workshop will be held in conjunction with while SARA 2014 (Automatics and Robotics Week in Alicante) which will be held on July 21-23.

Topics

The main topics covered in the workshop will include:

  • Motion planning for  arm robots.
  • Grasping and manipulation process.
  • Robotic Hand control.
  • Vision information for manipulation.
  • Object manipulation.

Application

The workshop will be open to about 25 qualified, motivated and pre-selected candidates. Postgraduate students, Master Students, Ph. D. students, young researchers from universities/organizations and engineers from industry companies are encouraged to apply.

The expected workshop fee will be 100€ for all. The fee will include all course materials, 2 coffee breaks and 1 lunch. The payment way and bank information will be suggested after the application is accepted. Extra costs for bank wire transfers are not covered by ROS-RM.

Applications to attend ROS-RM 2014 should be received before 20 June 2014. Applicants will receive notification of acceptance by 27 June 2014. Applications can be done through the on-line application form, which is accessible from the right menu or the following link. The form will ask for the applicant's name, institution, department, institutional address, postal code, city, country and e-mail.

According to the limitation of the number of participants to a maximum of 25, each student is encouraged to submit also a reference letter and a short CV (one page) in PDF format through the application from. Although these documents are not required, they will facilitate the selection of participants by the organizers in case there are more requests than places, considering the participant's work background.

Furthermore, accepted students may submit a paper in English to present their research activity in SARA 2014. Please, read the guidelines in SARA 2014.

Registration

ROS-RM Registration for accepted participants should be done before 5 July 2014, using the on-line registration form, which will be accessible from the right menu or the following link:

To complete the registration, each accepted participant needs to send a copy of his/her payment receipt through the registration form. The receipt must include the "ROS-RM" word  and the full name of the participant in the details field. The payment way and bank information will be directly indicated to accepted participants when they be notified by email about their aceptance, by 27 June. Extra costs for bank wire transfers are not covered by ROS-RM. Money-back is not covered and guaranteed from ROS-RM organizers.

Applicants who have not complete registration within 5 July 2014 will be removed from the list of participants and their place will be assigned to other students on the waiting list.

Deadlines

  • Student Application: 20 June 2014.
  • Notification of Acceptance: 27 June 2014.
  • Registration (payment of 100€): 5 July 2014.
